Prabhas’s Movie Soars to Rs 500 Crore Worldwide
‘Kalki 2898 AD’, the science fiction epic directed by Nag Ashwin, has been an extraordinary success, taking in over Rs 500 crore worldwide in its first weekend of release. The movie has also become a member of India’s exclusive Rs 300-crore net club. The picture, which broke many records at the box office since its June 27 release in multiple languages and in both 2D and 3D formats, is a testament to Prabhas and Ashwin’s teamwork.
Vyjayanthi Movies, the production company, shared that the remarkable box office success amounted to “500 crores.” The movie isn’t just popular in India; it’s blown up at the box office here in North America too, where it became the highest-grossing Indian movie in its first weekend of release. ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ made almost $10.5 million (Rs 87 crore) in North America alone, according to Prathyangira Cinemas.
The film’s director, Nag Ashwin, thanked the American public for their tremendous support, which went a long way toward breaking box office records. On its opening Sunday, June 30, the movie did incredibly well at the box office, taking in Rs 85 crore nett in India. On that day, the Hindi version made Rs 39 crore, while the Telugu version brought in Rs 36.8 crore.
Currently, the four-day total collected in India for ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is Rs 302.4 crore nett. On June 30, the Telugu version achieved an amazing 84.24% occupancy rate. The science fiction action-adventure movie “Kalki 2898 AD” was written and directed by Nag Ashwin. The massively budgeted film, which stars Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan in key parts, blends science fiction with Indian mythology. Shobhana, Pasupathy, Saswata Chatterjee, Anna Ben, Disha Patani, and Brahmanandam are among those in supporting parts.
“Kalki 2898 AD,” which was produced by Vyjayanthi Movies on a whopping Rs 600 crore budget, saw a 31.78% increase in box office receipts on Sunday, indicating growing public interest. The movie took in an estimated Rs 95.3 crore on its first day of release and Rs 64.5 crore (India net) on Saturday.
The film’s performances in Kannada, Malayalam, and Tamil were equally excellent, with Sunday earnings of Rs 0.7 crore, Rs 3 crore, and Rs 5.5 crore, respectively, in addition to the impressive results in India. “Kalki 2898 AD” is a post-apocalyptic story that takes place in the year 2898 AD and centers on a small group of people who are sent on a quest to save Kalko, the unborn child of lab subject SUM-80. Inspired by Hindu mythology, the star-studded cast features Kamal Haasan as the wicked Yaskin and Amitabh Bachchan as the immortal Ashwatthama.
Trade analysts predict that the movie would make more than Rs 800 crore over its lifespan, which would be a huge milestone for Indian cinema.
