5 Indian Movies Banned in Pakistan
1. Pad Man
This Indian movie depicts a very sensitive yet relevant topic related to the menstrual cycle of females and how it is important to maintain hygiene during the process. It shows us different ways to maintain hygiene near the private part and why pads are important for the same. Also, it encourages the remote side or uncivilized people to use pads, thereby helping them with affordable pads and their making. This topic was always taboo, even in India, but was addressed and marketed well to be accepted. Unfortunately, the same failed to get the approval of the Pakistan government and its citizens.
2. Ek Tha Tiger
This Indian movie depicts a very romantic yet controversial story of two people falling in love with each other, one from India and the other from Pakistan. It is said to be controversial as it’s a love story between a RAW agent from India and an ISI agent from Pakistan, leading to political and patriotic conflicts. Such movies are rarely accepted in Pakistan, even though they were a big hit in India.
3. Gadar Part 1 and Part 2
The Part 1 of Indian movies Gadar depicts a very passionate love story between an Indian boy and a Pakistani girl who gets married, but over the period the girl’s father picks her up and keeps her locked with him away from the boy.
Part 2 depicts a revenge story of that boy who went missing but was actually captured by Pakistan and then was rescued by his son. This movie is banned as it addresses the sensitive topics of the partition leading to religious and political conflicts with some very bold and controversial dialogues.
4. Dangal
This movie is based on the real-life story of Mahavir Singh Phogat, a former wrestler who trains his daughters in wrestling to fulfill his dream of winning the gold medal and thereby achieving huge success. The Pak censor board did not approve the Indian movie Dangal as it requested to remove two scenes from the movie containing the national flag and national anthem, which was declined by the makers of the film and hence was never released in Pakistan.
5. Haider
Indian movie Haider depicts a revenge story of a son who returns to Kashmir to take revenge on his stepfather, who is responsible for his father’s death. The movie was considered a bit controversial as it provoked Kashmir insurgency and communal hatred, which led to its ban in Pakistan.
